Goodbye Vietnam, you were quite the adventure!
Goodbye Vietnam, you were quite the adventure! It was nothing like anywhere I had been before. I feel like everyone (at least me growing up) wants to experience the Asian aesthetic of lanterns, bustling streets, temples, and street food. I luckily got to experience all of that.
I won’t lie, in the moment it was a little overwhelming to deal with some days. Things for the most part aren’t «nice» so you have to get used to being uncomfortable for extended periods of time. The lack of sleep and packed days catch up with you which can make you feel «done» in a sense.
But is that what I took away? OF COURSE NOT, it was soooo much more than that. The things I got to see, to taste, to feel, and most of all the people I got to be with were the best memories. Ok woah, I’m talking like this journey is over. I still have halfway to go 😂.
Next stop? Indonesia 🇮🇩! I used up my leftover Vietnamese cash in the airport to buy an overly priced (yep, still overpriced here) iced coffee. I am almost positive it was 95% sweetened condensed milk and 5% coffee because WOAH I could barely drink it.
Landed in Jakarta, bought our visas, and then took a bus to the hostel. The roads are even tighter here so we had to take vans instead of a large bus. We were not in the city center but rather a small, more run down neighborhood.
Walked to a dinner place in a group to get a classic Indonesian dinner. It was beef in a thick dark sauce, potato cakes, and spicy vegetables. The spice was manageable but a little strong, it definitely wasn’t for everyone 😅.
