Postcards from Isla · Day 34

That’s when I realized I had to audition, I had to try.

When I put my name on the list it felt so far away. «I don’t have to worry about that yet» I said to myself. But before I knew it, the day arrived. Audition day 😟.

Each year, the folkehøgskole chooses a yearly musical for parents weekend (a special, event packed weekend for parents) that takes place in November. This year it is Matilda.

I have never auditioned for a role in anything but acting intrigued me a tiny tiny bit. I knew I couldn’t ignore the inkling of a voice inside of my head saying «I wonder what it would be like if I did that…?», I’ve already done that too much. That’s when I realized I had to audition, I had to try. Never before would I have done this, but then I was like «What the heck? Why not?». The worse thing that’ll happen is that I won’t like it, and then I’ll know. I have to know.

Anyways, I was terrified for the audition since we had to sing a song (I know call me dramatic), my stomach was churning so bad (and I was basically the last audition so waiting all day was great 😂). My voice DEFINITELY trembled while I sang and I couldn’t take my eyes off my phone to read the lyrics because I thought I would forget even though I knew them by heart. I did not feel confident at all especially since so many people auditioned but to my surprise I got a role! It’s small but I WILL perfect those few Norwegian lines that I get 😆.

The weather has been super nice (sunny and warm(ish)) these past couple days and is supposed to continue onto the next few. I guess it’s a nice little send off because after Thursday (leaving for break and then travel) we come back in mid-November to stick trees, cold wind, and rain…

I met two new cats, both let me pet them. I’m so surprised how trusting the cats are of humans, not a single one has ran away from me, and I’ve met a lot of them. Maybe it speaks about what the people are like in Norway. Cats do have a sixth sense after all.
