Postcards from Isla · Day 26

I am determined to do it every Sunday no matter the weather

I loaded my plate full of Norway’s national dish! Fårikål translates to «lamb in cabbage» (and that’s literally all it is). It’s a very simple dish but was cozy on this rainy day. It was my first time trying lamb like this, the only ways I’ve ever had it is in a fancy one bite filet or in gyro meat form.

Then had warm apple cake for dessert which really hit the spot 🤭. I went back for seconds and restrained myself from getting thirds…

Every Sunday is Sunday Swimming in the ocean. It didn’t look that appetizing with the wind and rain but I am determined to do it every Sunday no matter the weather. After I do it I am always glad that I do but let’s just say that on the walk over, I am contemplating life 😟.

Then I chilled in my room for awhile as I was doing my travel preparation essay. I had to research any topic I wanted and then make a little essay which we will put in a brochure to learn more about the country we are going to travel to. Something actually useful! I did mine about Vietnam’s perspective on the Vietnam War since I have only really ever known the US one from school. It was interesting to learn about. And I could write how I wanted (I could finally use «I and me» pronouns 🥹). I really like how there are no grades at folkehøgskole, it’s refreshing.

Last night, I did a cooking challenge called «Deaf, Blind, Mute» where each person was a role and we had to somehow make waffles. As you can see, they turned out absolutely amazing. I mean the consistency was perfect! Jokes aside, we somehow did not get last. 💀
