Postcards from Isla · Day 24

I don't regret my decision of choosing the pilgrimage at all!

Never thought I would have a good night of sleep in a gymnasium, on the floor, in a sleeping bag, along with 50+ other people, BUT I did. It was soooo nice.

Headed to Trondheim after breakfast, to do a 3km walk to the Nidaros Cathedral. Compared to what we have done, 3km was NOTHING.

But I have never seen such an awe inspiring structure before. The architecture of the cathedral was amazing, I can’t imagine how long it took to build. But it was also so beautiful inside, the ceilings were sky high and the stained glass looked so vivid against the grey stone.

But we definitely didn’t walk 3 days just to step inside the cathedral. We needed a finale, a final performance to celebrate our pilgrimage. So we all gathered in a circle at the front of the church conducted by Principal Sven and sang «Laudate Omnes Gentes» for one last time 🥹. It was technically «not allowed» to sing in the church so we felt a little rebellious. A lot of tourists were videoing us while we were singing 😂.

Then there was 2 hours of free time and what better way to spend free time other than a sushi buffet??? I ate SO much (mostly chicken teriyaki wings weirdly enough). I did not feel well afterwards (and still don’t as I’m writing this) but I don’t regret the pure bliss I had while eating it 😌.

Then got back on the bus. The sun was shining so bright as we were leaving the city. So although it would’ve been nice to have had some sun while walking, I don’t regret my decision of choosing the pilgrimage at all! In the moment there was a lot of negative thoughts but in the end the positive memories are what really matter most.
