Postcards from Isla · Day 12

I don't think I have ever tasted a real raspberry before today

I don’t think I have ever tasted a real raspberry before today. I mean the flavor of picking a fresh raspberry is something that cannot be beat.

Today we headed back to school but not without a few stops! I was going to try to resist the urge to buy a svele on the ferry (I accidentally called it a yacht in front of my friend which was pretty funny🤦‍♀️) BUT I couldn’t help myself. They’re just so good.

After the yacht (I mean ferry) we drove to a farm called Finvik Gård. I thought we would just get a tour but since the raspberry season was late, there were so many extra berries that were going to go to waste. SOOO the farmer let us pick as much berries as we wanted to which was so much fun. It was probably the most satisfying thing I’ve ever done, I could do it all day.

The sea buckthorn was very interesting… it was super sour but also had tropical fruit notes like passionfruit and mango. We packed up the raspberries when we got back to the school and I think we will make a sauce out of them later.

Tonight was «Fun Friday» and the theme was to dress up as an old person for bingo and dancing. I’m not going to lie I was super tired towards the end so I felt a little dead (pun not intended 🤦‍♀️) but it was still funny to be a part of it. I love how enthusiastic the student leaders are with it. They sure put a lot of work in to plan these events but I can tell everyone enjoys them (even if they’re tired sometimes like me).
