All schools have their similarities, they also have their differences
Field trip number 2! Today we went to a cheese farm called Tingvollost. We made a whole day road trip out of it and stopped at many places. We stopped at a sandy beach, the Atlantic Road which was featured in a James Bond movie, and a pizza restaurant. It was a mix of rain and (mostly) sun. It was so beautiful to look out of the window and see the sparkling water. The last few days have been so cloudy and rainy so I almost forgot what it looked like!
It was fun to try the different types of cheeses and see how they were made. The blue mold cheese which has to mature for over 9 months actually won Worlds Best Cheese in 2016.
I also tried kokosbolle at the pizza restaurant. I saw it in the case from a distance and knew I didn’t want to regret not buying it, so I did! It was very good and VERY sweet.
We stayed at another folkehøgskole for the night. The people were very welcoming and social so that was nice to see. Unfortunately we were all pretty beat from the busy day so couldn’t quite match their energy… nonetheless it was cool to see how different the people were compared to my school. It just shows that while all schools have their similarities, they also have their differences.
For one, there were a lot of Americans and Dutchies so English was the main language spoken unlike my school. In the beginning I might have preferred that but to be honest, Norwegian has kind of grown on me.
I also learned how to play a new game tonight called Vildkatten (picture identification game) and you won’t believe what it means… The Wild Cat 🤦♀️.
