Postcards from Isla · Day 5

At least I still have my hair

The king of Norway sadly passed away this morning so all of the flags were at half mast to honor him. It is very special to see everyone come together at a time like this to pay their respects. There was also a candlelight ceremony to honor him at school as well which was nice. He seemed to be very respected.

But I still had quite an active day. For one, I tried two new «foods» (see… I’m not really sure if what I ate was food…just kidding 😂) and they were veryyyyy interesting. I REALLY wanted to like them but my tastebuds unfortunately could not come to terms with either «dish».

I was very reluctant to try it at first but many told me that liver paste was a childhood memory so I felt like I had to give it a chance. I knew I couldn’t judge before trying it but now that I have tried it I can finally judge. Lets just say that I will not be caught with those «pastes» again 😃. BUT, I am very glad that I tried it.

Tonight was the Fredagskru (Fun Friday) and we all got put into groups and had to do ABSOLUTELY crazy things around the school. I wont reveal too much but someone did shave their head and I threw up twice since I drank the «magic drink» which had egg, coffee, and burger sauce. The one who shaved their head ended up winning, and I ended up with stains on my slippers but hey, at least I still have my hair. ☺️
