Postcards from Isla · Day 1

Maybe this is something I can actually do

Day 1: As I was walking into the school my stomach was churning. What on earth did I just sign myself up for?

As I walked in I was putting on a happy face but my mind was full with all the thoughts of everything that could go wrong. Luckily, all of my fears were proven entirely wrong by the end of the night… Yes, the same day.

Even though I couldn’t understand a single word (since the opening day was in Norwegian), I was still able to feel the warmth and generosity from the staff. I was standing in the reception hall for not even 10 seconds and two girls came up to me and introduced themselves right away. The pit in my stomach immediately subsided, and I met two other girls as I followed them upstairs so they could show me their room.

I felt better. I felt more secure. And I thought, «Ok, maybe this is something I can actually do»

p.s: The photos are the first day of school hike which was at Høgkubben. It was very muddy and rocky but a very fun challenge. We were able to see the entire area of Ålesund, with a little sun too.
